Tootie, a female domestic short-haired kitten, is available for adoption at the Shenandoah County Animal Shelter, 268 Landfill Road, Edinburg.

Her adoption fee is $40. The shelter is open weekdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Information: 540-984-8955.

Shenandoah Downs will celebrate Purple Power cancer survivors from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the Shenandoah County Fairgrounds in Woodstock.

A wagon filled with booze and an old-fashioned bakery raffle will be held to raise money for the American Cancer Society’s Shenandoah Vally chapter. The first 350 fans will receive a commemorative purple ski hat. Participate in the Fancy Hat contest by wearing your most elegant, unique or outrageous headwear. There will also be a powder puff derby, survivors harness race and more.

The Bread of Life Food Pantry will distribute food from 1 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday behind the Woodstock United Methodist Church, 156 S. Muhlenberg St. More information is available by calling 540-459-4144.

Padre Pio Academy will hold a casino night fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. on Oct. 22 at Christendom College, 134 Christendom Drive, Front Royal.

VECCA is seeking artists to participate in the judged art show Small Works.
